As a Solar Technician, you will be a vital part of our installation and maintenance crews, responsible for the safe and efficient assembly, installation, and commissioning of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Your daily tasks will range from ground-mount and rooftop installations to electrical wiring, system testing, and troubleshooting. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install solar PV systems on rooftops and ground mounts according to design specifications and safety standards.
- Perform electrical wiring, conduit bending, and connection of solar panels, inverters, and other system components.
- Conduct system testing, commissioning, and routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues, performing necessary repairs and replacements.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices, including working at heights and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and system layouts accurately.
- Provide clear communication and professional interaction with team members, clients, and project managers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV installation or related electrical/construction field.
- Proficiency in basic electrical work, including wiring, conduit, and panel connections.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures, particularly regarding working at heights and electrical safety.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in solar PV installation (e.g., NABCEP PV Associate, Construction Electrician Red Seal).
- Experience with various inverter technologies (string, micro-inverters) and battery storage systems.
- Working at Heights certification.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience operating boom lifts or scissor lifts.
