Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a pioneering Speech Recognition Engineer to join our innovative team in Ibrox, Glasgow. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual passionate about transforming how people interact with technology through advanced voice interfaces. As a Speech Recognition Engineer, you will be at the heart of developing and refining our next-generation automated speech recognition (ASR) systems, working on challenging projects that span research, algorithm development, and large-scale deployment.

You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning models for acoustic and language modeling. This involves diving deep into complex datasets, experimenting with state-of-the-art deep learning architectures, and ensuring the robustness and accuracy of our speech recognition engines across various languages and accents. Your work will directly contribute to products that enhance user experience, drive efficiency, and open up new possibilities for accessibility and convenience.

Our ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, possesses a strong theoretical foundation in speech processing, machine learning, and signal processing, and has hands-on experience with practical implementation. You’ll be encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the table, challenge existing paradigms, and contribute to a culture of continuous innovation. We are looking for someone who is not only proficient in coding but also has a keen understanding of linguistic nuances and the challenges inherent in natural language understanding. Join us and shape the future of voice AI, making a tangible impact on cutting-edge products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize advanced Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) systems and related components.
  • Implement and evaluate machine learning models for acoustic and language modeling, including deep neural networks.
  • Perform extensive data analysis, feature extraction, and model training on large speech datasets.
  • Research and integrate state-of-the-art algorithms and technologies in speech recognition and natural language processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software engineers, data scientists, product managers) to integrate ASR solutions into products.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, performance tuning, and debugging of speech recognition systems.
  • Stay abreast of the latest academic and industry developments in speech technology and machine learning.
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to deployment and maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing and acoustic modeling techniques.
  • Solid foundation in machine learning principles, particularly deep learning for sequence modeling.
  • Experience with ASR toolkits (e.g., Kaldi, ESPnet, DeepSpeech).
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex technical challenges.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and deploying production-grade speech recognition systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for deploying ML models.
  • Knowledge of various speech processing tasks beyond ASR, such as speaker diarization, voice activity detection, or emotion recognition.
  • Familiarity with C++ for performance-critical components.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
