Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement software for robotic systems, including perception, navigation, control, and human-robot interaction.
  • Architect robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions for real-time robotic applications.
  • Integrate and test software components with robotic hardware, sensors, and actuators.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, AI engineers) to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and optimise existing robotic software for performance and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, contributing to a high standard of code quality and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, AI, and software engineering, applying new knowledge to projects.
  • Document software designs, specifications, and test plans thoroughly.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Extensive experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals: kinematics, dynamics, control systems, perception.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in Linux development environment and version control (Git).
  • Familiarity with various sensor technologies (e.g., LiDAR, cameras, IMUs) and their integration.
  • Ability to develop and debug complex multi-threaded applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) applied to robotics.
  • Knowledge of computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV) and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, V-REP).
  • Experience with cloud robotics platforms or distributed systems.
  • Prior experience in agile development methodologies.
