As a Cashier, you will be the face of our supermarket, playing a pivotal role in ensuring our customers have a seamless and positive checkout experience. You will be responsible for processing transactions, handling cash and card payments, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. Key Responsibilities
- Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems.
 - Handle cash, credit/debit card, and mobile money transactions, ensuring proper reconciliation at the end of each shift.
 - Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering queries, and assisting with bagging purchases.
 - Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized checkout area, including shelves near the register.
 - Verify product prices and ensure correct scanning of all items.
 - Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures regarding cash handling, security, and customer service.
 - Assist customers with loyalty program sign-ups and queries.
 - Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
 - Report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor promptly.
 - Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with company guidelines.
 
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a cashier or in a customer service role, preferably in a retail or supermarket setting.
 - Proficiency in operating POS systems and cash handling procedures.
 - Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
 - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
 - High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
 - Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
 - Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
 - Previous experience with a major supermarket chain.
 - A certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
