Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive Technical Assistant to join our workshop team in Brierley Hill, Birmingham. This pivotal role involves providing essential support to our senior technicians and engineers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our workshop activities. You will be instrumental in the assembly, maintenance, and repair of various mechanical and electrical components and systems, contributing directly to project success and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians and engineers with the assembly, testing, maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on workshop tools and apparatus.
- Prepare and organise materials, tools, and components required for various projects.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment in accordance with company standards and health and safety regulations.
- Diagnose basic technical issues and escalate complex problems to senior personnel.
- Document work performed, including parts used and time spent, accurately and efficiently.
- Operate a range of workshop machinery and hand tools safely and competently.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
- Adhere to all quality control procedures and operational guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Assistant, Workshop Assistant, or similar role (minimum 1 year).
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic workshop machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of health and safety protocols in a workshop setting.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Forklift license or experience operating similar industrial equipment.
- Experience with CAD software for viewing technical diagrams.
- First Aid certification.
