Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and detailed inspections of various types of vehicles (e.g., cars, trucks, vans) according to established checklists and industry standards.
- Identify and document any defects, damages, mechanical issues, or discrepancies in vehicle condition.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle systems, including brakes, steering, suspension, engine, and electrical components.
- Verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and other relevant documentation for accuracy and authenticity.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including photographic evidence, and articulate findings clearly and concisely.
- Communicate inspection results to team members, management, and potentially clients in a professional manner.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies during inspections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay updated on automotive industry trends, regulations, and best practices for vehicle inspection.
- Collaborate with repair technicians or service advisors as needed to discuss identified issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in vehicle inspection, automotive mechanics, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems, and structural components.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot minor imperfections or potential issues.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to complete detailed reports accurately and efficiently.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English or French.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical dexterity to perform duties that may involve standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or equivalent provincial certification (e.g., Red Seal).
- Experience with specific vehicle diagnostic software platforms.
- Post-secondary education in Automotive Technology or a related field.
