Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Accountant with a strong focus on bookkeeping and reconciliation to join our dynamic team at our Pamplemousses branch. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, contributing significantly to the smooth operation of our financial control processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining ledgers, performing comprehensive reconciliations, and preparing various financial reports. You will play a crucial role in supporting our financial objectives by ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and compliant with internal policies and external regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate bookkeeping records for all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and other balance sheet accounts with precision and efficiency.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper classification and allocation of expenses and revenues.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support the annual audit process by providing timely and accurate documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant financial regulations and internal control procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial information and uphold professional ethics.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required by management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Excel (advanced functions).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Creole an advantage).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) or working towards one.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of local tax laws and regulations in Mauritius.
