As a Fleet Operations Driver, you will be the backbone of our local delivery and operational efficiency, ensuring goods and materials are transported safely and punctually throughout the Saint John area. You will be responsible for operating company vehicles, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safely loading and unloading items, and accurately completing delivery documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, documenting any issues or maintenance needs.
- Load and unload materials and goods, ensuring secure and proper handling to prevent damage.
- Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules diligently to ensure timely transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and other operational data.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, team members, and, when necessary, clients regarding delivery status or issues.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks, such as fluid levels and tire pressure.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of company vehicles.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in regular safety training sessions.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver's License (or equivalent).
- Clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle operation and safety practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using GPS and navigation tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Uptown, Saint John area and surrounding routes.
- Previous experience in a role requiring driving, such as courier, delivery, or general transportation (even informal).
- Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in vehicle maintenance.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
