Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and empathetic Weekend Nursing Home Aides to join our network of esteemed long-term care facilities in the vibrant Rosemont, Montreal area. This crucial part-time role focuses specifically on weekend shifts, offering a stable schedule for those committed to providing exceptional care during these vital hours. As a Weekend Nursing Home Aide, you will be an indispensable part of our residents’ lives, delivering compassionate and personalized support that enhances their quality of life.
Your day-to-day will involve assisting residents with their activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and medication reminders. Beyond the essential tasks, this role is deeply human-centric; it’s about building genuine connections, offering companionship, and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment. You will work closely with our healthcare teams, communicating observations and changes in residents’ conditions to nurses and other professionals to ensure continuous, high-quality care planning.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate assistive devices.
- Serve meals and assist residents with feeding, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake, and output, reporting any significant changes to nursing staff.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, engaging residents in conversations and activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks within residents' rooms as needed.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Adhere strictly to all facility policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Participate in care planning and team meetings as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Préposé aux Bénéficiaires (PAB) certification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and empathy for elderly individuals.
- Ability to communicate effectively in French (oral and written).
- Strong observational and reporting skills.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled weekend shifts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a long-term care facility or nursing home.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR certification.
- Understanding of common geriatric conditions and best care practices.
