Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol transit vehicles, stations, and properties to ensure passenger safety and enforce regulations.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies, taking appropriate action and de-escalating situations.
  • Provide clear assistance, directions, and accurate information to transit users in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into minor incidents, document findings comprehensively, and complete detailed reports.
  • Liaise effectively with emergency services, local law enforcement, and other relevant authorities as required.
  • Actively monitor surveillance equipment and conduct regular security checks to maintain a secure environment.
  • Issue warnings or citations for violations of transit bylaws and codes of conduct.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter unlawful activities and ensure compliance with transit policies.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict de-escalation abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and effective in high-pressure or stressful situations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Proficiency in written English for accurate report writing and documentation.
  • Physical capability to perform duties including prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, public service, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local transit routes, schedules, and operational procedures.
  • Formal training or experience in conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
