Job Description

Are you a skilled Farm Equipment Operator seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity in a unique environment? Career.zycto is excited to facilitate the search for a dedicated and experienced individual to join our client’s team in Apex, Iqaluit. This isn’t your typical farm; in the Arctic, ‘farm equipment’ often extends to versatile heavy machinery crucial for a variety of land-based operations, vital for community development and local resource management. We’re looking for an operator who is proficient, safety-conscious, and adaptable to the distinct seasonal demands and environmental conditions of the North.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of equipment, which may include tractors, loaders, excavators, forklifts, and other specialized machinery used for tasks ranging from ground preparation for community initiatives to general infrastructure support. Your expertise will be critical in supporting diverse projects such as land preparation for local food security projects or small-scale agricultural research, site clearing for vital community infrastructure, maintaining access roads, and general grounds upkeep. Operating effectively in Iqaluit means facing unique challenges, from varying terrain to extreme weather conditions, demanding a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to equipment care.

During the harsh winter months, significant duties will include extensive snow removal operations, ensuring essential services continue uninterrupted and residents can navigate safely. This requires not only skilled operation but also an unwavering commitment to reliability and timeliness. You will be expected to conduct daily pre-operational checks, perform minor field adjustments, and report any significant maintenance needs promptly, contributing directly to the longevity and efficiency of the machinery. Collaboration with other team members, supervisors, and community stakeholders will be integral, ensuring all projects align with local needs and safety standards. This role demands a high level of precision, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to equipment care and problem-solving, all while adhering to stringent safety protocols. If you thrive in a dynamic setting and are eager to contribute your skills to a close-knit Arctic community where your work directly impacts daily life and future growth, we encourage you to apply. Join a team where your expertise ensures the smooth operation of essential services and contributes to the well-being and development of Apex, Iqaluit.
