Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems & Maintenance to join our growing team in Glasgow, Scotland. This is a pivotal role where you will be responsible for the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations. You will contribute to a wide range of projects, from initial concept development and detailed design through to commissioning and operational support.

As an Electrical Engineer with us, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our power distribution systems. This involves conducting detailed fault analysis, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and leading corrective actions to minimize downtime. You will work with various voltage levels, including low and high voltage systems, and be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and control logic diagrams. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying areas for system improvement, implementing energy efficiency measures, and supporting the integration of new technologies into existing setups.

We are looking for a proactive individual who can work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and optimize electrical power distribution systems, control circuits, and associated equipment.
  • Develop and implement robust preventive and corrective maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure.
  • Perform diagnostic testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting on complex electrical systems (LV and HV).
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, technical reports, and documentation.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant British Standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Manage and oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, other engineering disciplines, and external contractors.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance teams and operational staff.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and system upgrades.
  • Conduct risk assessments and uphold stringent safety standards in all electrical activities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP).
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems (LV and HV), motor control, and PLC systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety regulations and British Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex electrical faults.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant specialization.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration or smart grid technologies.
  • Project management experience in electrical installations or upgrades.
  • Knowledge of HAZOP/SIL assessments.
