Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Social Worker to join our impactful team in Maxixe, Inhambane Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for individuals and families to identify needs, strengths, and challenges.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans and intervention strategies.
  • Provide direct counseling, support, and crisis intervention services to clients.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and access to essential services, including health, education, housing, and legal aid.
  • Facilitate referrals to internal programs and external community resources, ensuring seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records and case documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and awareness campaigns to identify at-risk populations and promote social welfare initiatives.
  • Contribute to program development, evaluation, and reporting to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Stay informed about current social work best practices, relevant legislation, and local resources.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in case management and client advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of psychosocial assessment and intervention techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English.
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of local social services, community resources, and governmental structures in Mozambique.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, data entry systems).
  • Valid Mozambican driver's license and willingness to travel within the province.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate diploma or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Experience working with specific vulnerable groups (e.g., children, youth, victims of violence, persons with disabilities).
  • Fluency in local languages relevant to Inhambane Province (e.g., Gitonga, Chopi).
  • Experience in M&E (Monitoring and Evaluation) for social programs.
  • Previous experience working with international NGOs or community-based organizations.
