Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an innovative and dedicated Cloud Application Engineer to join our growing team in Knotty Ash, Liverpool. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of high-performance cloud-based applications. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in transforming complex business requirements into elegant, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions primarily utilizing modern serverless architectures and microservices. You will work within a collaborative Agile environment, interacting closely with product managers, solution architects, and other engineering teams to deliver cutting-edge software that directly impacts our clients’ operational efficiency and growth.

Your day-to-day will involve hands-on coding, infrastructure as code (IaC) development using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and ensuring the operational excellence of our cloud applications. We are looking for someone who is passionate about cloud technologies, understands the full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment and beyond, and is eager to tackle challenging problems with creative, forward-thinking solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse and evolving tech stack, continuously learn new skills, and make a significant impact on our product offerings, driving innovation and efficiency across our platforms.

This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements, embracing best practices in security, performance, cost optimization, and reliability. You’ll be expected to actively participate in design discussions, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are committed to delivering high-quality, impactful cloud applications, and are excited by the prospect of shaping the future of digital transformation, we encourage you to apply. This position is ideal for an individual who is keen to not just build, but to innovate, optimize, and lead, ensuring our platforms remain at the cutting edge of cloud technology and provide maximum value to our users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and resilient cloud-native applications using appropriate cloud services (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Run).
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates to automate provisioning and management of cloud resources.
  • Collaborate with architects and product owners to translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Ensure applications adhere to best practices for security, reliability, performance, and cost optimization within a cloud environment.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high code quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud applications and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.
  • Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimal operation.
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, tools, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Go, C#)
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles and experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with serverless architectures and microservices design patterns
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Developer)
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues
  • Understanding of networking concepts in a cloud environment
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
