Job Description

Are you a skilled Security Automation Engineer passionate about building resilient, automated security infrastructures? Career.zycto is excited to facilitate your next career move with a dynamic client based in New Brighton, Liverpool. This full-time role offers an unparalleled opportunity to design, implement, and maintain cutting-edge security automation solutions that protect critical systems and data. You will be instrumental in transforming manual security processes into efficient, automated workflows, enhancing our client’s overall security posture and operational efficiency. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to tackle complex cybersecurity challenges.

In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of developing and deploying automated security controls across various platforms, including cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premise infrastructure. You’ll leverage your expertise in scripting languages like Python, Go, or PowerShell to create robust automation scripts for a wide array of security functions, such as vulnerability management, incident response, compliance checks, security monitoring, and configuration management. This isn’t just about writing code; it’s about strategically engineering security solutions that scale, are resilient, and provide measurable improvements in risk reduction. You will design and implement security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) playbooks, integrate security tools with CI/CD pipelines, and ensure security is ‘baked in’ from the outset of development.

You will work closely with DevOps, SRE, development, and other security teams, providing expert guidance and advocating for security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Your contributions will directly impact the security of our client’s assets, ensuring they remain protected against evolving cyber threats and regulatory requirements. We are looking for an individual who is not only technically proficient but also a proactive problem-solver, eager to learn new technologies, and capable of driving security initiatives from conception to completion with minimal oversight. This is a chance to make a significant impact in a forward-thinking environment that values innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong security culture. If you thrive on challenges, possess a keen eye for efficiency, and are ready to elevate an organization’s security capabilities through intelligent automation, we encourage you to apply today!

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement security automation scripts and tools using languages like Python, Go, or PowerShell.

  • Integrate security tools and processes into CI/CD pipelines to achieve DevSecOps principles.
  • Develop and maintain Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) playbooks to enhance incident detection and response capabilities.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and other security teams to embed security best practices throughout the SDLC.
  • Conduct security assessments of automated systems and identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for security automation solutions and procedures.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating security tools (e.g., SAST, DAST, SCA) within them.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, SOAR platforms, EDR, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Knowledge of network security, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and common web application vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a proactive approach to security.
