Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Full-Time Mastering Engineer to join our vibrant team in Marion, Adelaide. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated audio professional to make a significant impact on a diverse range of musical and spoken-word projects. As a Mastering Engineer, you will be the final crucial step in the audio production chain, responsible for enhancing the sonic quality of tracks, ensuring optimal loudness, clarity, and stereo imaging, and preparing them for distribution across various platforms. You will work closely with artists, producers, and our in-house mixing engineers to translate artistic visions into sonically polished and competitive masters.

We are looking for an individual with an exceptional ear, a deep understanding of audio physics and psychoacoustics, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality masters. The ideal candidate will possess not only technical mastery of mastering software and hardware but also a keen artistic sensibility to balance sonic perfection with creative intent. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform audio mastering on a wide variety of musical genres and spoken-word content, ensuring optimal sonic quality, loudness, and impact.
  • Utilize advanced digital and analog mastering tools, including EQs, compressors, limiters, and converters, to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborate with artists, producers, and mixing engineers to understand their artistic vision and technical requirements for each project.
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks for all masters, identifying and correcting any technical issues such as clicks, pops, or distortion.
  • Prepare master files in various formats (e.g., WAV, AIFF, DDP, MP3) according to specific distribution platform specifications.
  • Maintain and calibrate mastering studio equipment, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in audio mastering.
  • Provide expert advice and feedback to mixing engineers to enhance pre-master quality.
  • Manage project timelines efficiently, ensuring timely delivery of masters.
  • Archive project files and session data securely and systematically.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Mastering Engineer in a studio setting.
  • Expert proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Steinberg Wavelab, iZotope RX, or similar mastering-specific software.
  • Comprehensive understanding of analog and digital signal processing, acoustics, and psychoacoustics.
  • Exceptional critical listening skills with a highly trained ear for detail, balance, and dynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of audio file formats, sampling rates, bit depths, and delivery specifications for various platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with specific high-end analog mastering hardware (e.g., Manley, Dangerous Music, SPL, Chandler Limited).
  • Experience with surround sound mastering or immersive audio formats.
  • Demonstrable portfolio of successfully mastered commercial releases.
  • Certifications in audio engineering or specific mastering software.
