Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Support Worker to join our vibrant team in Katembe Ferry Port, Maputo, for an immediate start. This pivotal role involves providing direct support, guidance, and advocacy to individuals and families facing various social and economic challenges within the local community. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments to identify the needs and challenges of individuals and families within the Katembe community.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans, connecting clients with appropriate local resources, social services, and educational programs.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support, offering guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to access housing, healthcare, employment, and legal services.
  • Organize and facilitate community engagement activities, workshops, and outreach programs focused on skill-building and social inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and reporting on outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, local government agencies, NGOs, and other community stakeholders to ensure coordinated support.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in community work, social services, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Proficiency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is essential; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Changana) is highly advantageous.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting diverse populations.
  • Valid Mozambican driver's license and ability to travel within the Katembe area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, or a related human services field.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural settings and with vulnerable populations.
  • Familiarity with local government and non-governmental social support structures in Maputo.
