Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Support Worker to join our vibrant team in Katembe Ferry Port, Maputo, for an immediate start. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments to identify the needs and challenges of individuals and families within the Katembe community.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans, connecting clients with appropriate local resources, social services, and educational programs.
- Provide one-on-one and group support, offering guidance, emotional support, and practical assistance.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to access housing, healthcare, employment, and legal services.
- Organize and facilitate community engagement activities, workshops, and outreach programs focused on skill-building and social inclusion.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and reporting on outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, local government agencies, NGOs, and other community stakeholders to ensure coordinated support.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 18 months experience in community work, social services, or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
- Proficiency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is essential; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Changana) is highly advantageous.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting diverse populations.
- Valid Mozambican driver's license and ability to travel within the Katembe area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, or a related human services field.
- Experience working in diverse cultural settings and with vulnerable populations.
- Familiarity with local government and non-governmental social support structures in Maputo.
