Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Officer with a strong background in supply chain and logistics to join our team in New Grove, Grand Port District. This pivotal role is central to ensuring the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services essential for our extensive textile manufacturing processes. You will be instrumental in managing the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying strategic sourcing opportunities to negotiating favorable terms with suppliers, and ensuring the timely and compliant delivery of all necessary materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing a wide array of items, including raw materials like fibers and fabrics, dyes, chemicals, machinery parts, and various operational supplies.
Your expertise will be critical in developing and nurturing robust supplier relationships, conducting market research to identify trends and potential new suppliers, and continuously optimizing procurement costs without compromising on quality or sustainability standards. A key aspect of this role involves collaborating closely with our production, finance, and logistics departments to accurately forecast material needs, manage inventory levels efficiently, and streamline procurement processes to enhance overall operational flow. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and prices with suppliers to achieve the best possible value for the company.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, compliance with company policies, and timely execution.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular evaluations, resolve any issues or discrepancies, and foster strong, collaborative relationships.
- Manage inventory levels and forecast future material needs in close collaboration with production and planning teams.
- Coordinate all aspects of logistics for inbound and outbound shipments, including freight forwarding, customs clearance, and transport optimization.
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new products, suppliers, and innovative cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure strict compliance with ethical sourcing guidelines, sustainability policies, and relevant industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, databases, and generate comprehensive reports for management analysis.
- Actively participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement strategies and processes.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge of international shipping procedures, customs regulations, and logistics best practices.
- Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) is highly regarded.
- Prior experience within the textile or manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Mauritian Creole).
