Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate public transport buses along designated routes and schedules within Machakos County.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with information, queries, and special needs (e.g., elderly, disabled).
- Collect fares and issue tickets accurately, maintaining proper records as required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or defects promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior.
- Handle passenger complaints or disputes professionally and calmly, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Ensure passenger safety during boarding, alighting, and transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members.
- Complete daily logs, incident reports, and other administrative tasks accurately.
- Represent Career.zycto positively as a frontline service provider.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Driving License Class D (or equivalent for PSV buses)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) proven experience as a PSV bus driver
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and road safety regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer service orientation and patience
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Good geographical knowledge of Machakos County routes
- High degree of responsibility and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum D+ grade
- Certificate of Good Conduct (recent)
- First Aid certification
- Defensive driving course completion
- Experience with electronic ticketing systems
