Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient IT Support Specialist to join our dedicated team in Githurai, Nairobi. In this crucial role, you will be the first line of defense for all technical queries and issues, ensuring the seamless operation of our IT infrastructure and supporting our staff to deliver exceptional financial services. As an IT Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, managing network connectivity, and maintaining our digital environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first and second-level technical support for hardware, software, network, and system issues, ensuring timely resolution for all end-users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, printers, scanners, and other peripherals, including operating systems and business applications.
  • Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot technical problems, and implement effective solutions to minimize system downtime.
  • Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security protocols in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure components, including LAN/WAN connectivity and Wi-Fi access points.
  • Document all support activities, resolutions, and system configurations accurately in the helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Conduct routine system checks, preventative maintenance, and data backups to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
  • Provide basic training and guidance to end-users on IT best practices and effective use of bank software and systems.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff and external vendors on more complex issues and project implementations.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and contribute to maintaining a secure computing environment.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an IT Support role, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Solid understanding of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows Server environments).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware components (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners).
  • Strong knowledge of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and common business applications.
  • Familiarity with IT service management tools and ticketing systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, MCSA, ITIL Foundation).
  • Experience with Active Directory administration.
  • Basic knowledge of database systems (e.g., SQL) and client-server architectures.
  • Previous experience in the financial services or banking sector.
