Omnicane, a leading diversified industrial group in Mauritius, is seeking a dedicated Logistics Clerk with expertise in shipping and documentation to join our dynamic team in Rose Belle. This pivotal role involves ensuring the smooth flow of goods, from coordinating inbound and outbound shipments and managing crucial documentation to liaising effectively with internal departments, suppliers, and external partners. Key Responsibilities
- Process, prepare, and coordinate all aspects of shipping and receiving, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- Prepare and manage all required shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, waybills, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
- Liaise effectively with freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents, and internal departments (e.g., procurement, warehousing, sales) to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including tracking information and delivery statuses.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory reconciliation, ensuring stock accuracy and integrity.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues related to shipments, documentation, or inventory in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure strict compliance with all national and international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to logistics activities, performance metrics, and cost analysis.
- Operate and maintain familiarity with relevant logistics software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics and supply chain functions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a logistics, shipping, or supply chain support role.
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation and procedures (e.g., bills of lading, customs declarations, packing lists).
- Excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data management and communication.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges and unexpected issues.
- Valid Mauritian driving license (an advantage for potential local site visits or urgent deliveries).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience with an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365) in a logistics module.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international trade terms (Incoterms).
- Familiarity with Mauritian customs regulations and import/export processes.
- Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
