Career.zycto is seeking a talented and meticulous Software Product Documentation Specialist to join our fully remote team, based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between our complex software solutions and our diverse user base. Your expertise in transforming technical jargon into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation will directly contribute to product adoption, customer satisfaction, and overall business success.
As a Documentation Specialist, you will collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, QA testers, and support teams to understand new features, existing functionalities, and technical specifications. You will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining a comprehensive suite of documentation, including user manuals, administrator guides, API documentation, release notes, knowledge base articles, and online help content. We are looking for someone who not only possesses exceptional writing and editing skills but also a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to information gathering, and a passion for making complex technologies accessible to everyone. Key Responsibilities
- Design, write, and maintain high-quality technical documentation for new and existing software products, including user guides, API documentation, release notes, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, QA, Support) to gather accurate information and understand technical concepts, product functionality, and user workflows.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content tailored to various target audiences (e.g., end-users, developers, system administrators).
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all documentation by performing regular reviews and updates.
- Develop and implement documentation standards, style guides, and templates to ensure consistency across all product documentation.
- Manage documentation through its entire lifecycle, from initial draft to publication and ongoing maintenance.
- Proactively identify gaps in existing documentation and recommend solutions to improve the user experience.
- Incorporate user feedback and analytics to continuously improve the usability and effectiveness of documentation.
- Contribute to the development of information architecture and content strategy for our documentation portals.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of professional experience in technical writing, software documentation, or a similar role.
- Proven ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
- Experience with documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Confluence, Git-based documentation systems, Markdown, DITA).
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication with team members.
- Proficiency with screen capture and image editing tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience documenting APIs and developer-focused tools.
- Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana.
