Key Responsibilities

  • Assist drillers with the setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling equipment.
  • Handle, prepare, and transport drilling tools, rods, and core samples safely.
  • Ensure the drill site is maintained in a clean, organized, and hazard-free condition.
  • Perform routine safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or potential issues promptly.
  • Participate actively in pre-start safety meetings and strictly follow all site-specific safety procedures.
  • Monitor drilling operations, including fluid levels, pressure gauges, and overall equipment performance.
  • Assist with the collection, processing, and accurate labeling of geological samples.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with drillers, supervisors, and other team members.
  • Undertake general labouring duties as required to support comprehensive drilling activities.
  • Learn and comply with all environmental regulations and best practices relevant to mining operations.

Required Skills

  • Strong, demonstrable commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
  • Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Proven ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or a strong willingness and capacity to learn equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferably with category B+E or equivalent for towing).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a labouring, construction, or other outdoor industrial setting.
  • Possession of relevant industry certifications (e.g., First Aid, Manual Handling, CSCS card).
  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools common in industrial environments.
  • A foundational understanding of mining safety regulations and operational principles.
