Key Responsibilities
- Assist drillers with the setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling equipment.
- Handle, prepare, and transport drilling tools, rods, and core samples safely.
- Ensure the drill site is maintained in a clean, organized, and hazard-free condition.
- Perform routine safety checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or potential issues promptly.
- Participate actively in pre-start safety meetings and strictly follow all site-specific safety procedures.
- Monitor drilling operations, including fluid levels, pressure gauges, and overall equipment performance.
- Assist with the collection, processing, and accurate labeling of geological samples.
- Communicate effectively and proactively with drillers, supervisors, and other team members.
- Undertake general labouring duties as required to support comprehensive drilling activities.
- Learn and comply with all environmental regulations and best practices relevant to mining operations.
Required Skills
- Strong, demonstrable commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Proven ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or a strong willingness and capacity to learn equipment operation and maintenance.
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong, proactive work ethic.
- Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferably with category B+E or equivalent for towing).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a labouring, construction, or other outdoor industrial setting.
- Possession of relevant industry certifications (e.g., First Aid, Manual Handling, CSCS card).
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools common in industrial environments.
- A foundational understanding of mining safety regulations and operational principles.
