Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to understand their travel preferences, budget, and specific requirements for domestic and international trips.
- Design and present customized travel itineraries, including flights, accommodation, car rentals, cruises, tours, and activities.
- Research and recommend destinations, travel routes, and tour packages based on client interests and current travel trends.
- Book flights, hotels, transfers, and other travel components using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and other booking platforms.
- Negotiate with airlines, hotels, and tour operators to secure competitive rates and exclusive deals for clients.
- Process payments, issue tickets, vouchers, and other travel documents accurately and efficiently.
- Provide expert advice on visa requirements, travel insurance, health precautions, and local customs.
- Handle last-minute changes, cancellations, and travel emergencies with professionalism and effective problem-solving.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of travel industry regulations, destination information, and emerging travel technologies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Travel Consultant or in a similar role within the travel industry.
- Proficiency in using at least one major Global Distribution System (GDS) such as Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre, or Worldspan.
- Demonstrable excellent knowledge of popular international and domestic travel destinations.
- Strong sales and customer service skills with a proven track record of meeting targets.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- IATA UFTAA qualification or equivalent travel industry certification.
- Experience with CRM software for client management.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in a widely spoken European or Asian language.
