Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers to understand and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies effectively.
  • Assist in adapting teaching materials and and classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students.
  • Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and relevant support staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student independence, self-esteem, and social development.
  • Help manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies, ensuring a safe and productive learning space.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities to enhance support skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting (minimum 1 year).
  • Strong understanding of various learning differences and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach towards students.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in using basic educational technology and software for learning support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Special Needs Education, Child Development, Counseling, or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with specific intervention programs or methodologies (e.g., ABA, PECS, Makaton).
