Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers to understand and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies effectively.
- Assist in adapting teaching materials and and classroom activities to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students.
- Monitor student progress, record observations, and provide constructive feedback to teachers and relevant support staff.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student independence, self-esteem, and social development.
- Help manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies, ensuring a safe and productive learning space.
- Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development opportunities to enhance support skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting (minimum 1 year).
- Strong understanding of various learning differences and effective support strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach towards students.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in using basic educational technology and software for learning support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Special Needs Education, Child Development, Counseling, or a related field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with specific intervention programs or methodologies (e.g., ABA, PECS, Makaton).
