Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed mechanics with vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic services such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and filter replacements under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, work bays, tools, and equipment.
- Retrieve and organize parts and supplies as directed by mechanics or service advisors.
- Transport vehicles within the lot, to and from external service providers, or for test drives when required.
- Properly dispose of waste materials, including old tires, oil, and other automotive fluids, following environmental guidelines.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the workshop environment.
- Help with general shop upkeep, including sweeping, mopping, and ensuring work areas are hazard-free.
- Support inventory management by assisting with receiving and stocking new parts and supplies.
- Actively participate in training sessions and seek opportunities to expand mechanical knowledge and skills.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicles.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- Basic understanding of safety practices in a workshop setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience (even personal projects or volunteering) with vehicle maintenance or repair.
