Career.zycto is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-Time Disability Care Assistant to join our dynamic team, supporting students within the vibrant community of the University of New England (UNE) in Armidale. Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care and support to students with disabilities, adhering to individual care plans.
- Assist with personal care routines, including hygiene and dressing, respectfully and discreetly.
- Facilitate student mobility and transfers around the University of New England campus using appropriate aids.
- Offer academic support, such as note-taking, organizing study materials, and assisting with access to learning resources.
- Support students in participating in social, recreational, and extra-curricular university activities.
- Monitor and report any changes in a student's health, well-being, or support needs to relevant staff.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assistance provided and student progress.
- Promote student independence, dignity, and self-advocacy at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with university disability services, academic staff, and allied health professionals.
- Adhere strictly to privacy policies, confidentiality guidelines, and workplace health and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in disability support, aged care, or community services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) or ability to obtain one.
- Legally entitled to work in Australia.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Aged Care, or Community Services.
- Previous experience working in an educational setting or with young adults.
- Knowledge of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) principles and disability standards.
- Current Australian Driver's License and access to reliable transportation.
