Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Adhere to all relevant safety procedures, electrical codes, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations).
- Read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly.
- Perform general electrical maintenance and preventative checks.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and management regarding project status and technical issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices or junior electricians where applicable.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent qualification.
- City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations).
- Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and fault finding.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Full UK Driving License.
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
- Experience with fire alarm and security systems.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar PV).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working in a variety of environments (commercial, industrial, domestic).
