Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class AZ commercial vehicles for long-haul and regional routes.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and associated equipment.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of various goods to designated locations.
- Accurately complete logbooks, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all hours of service (HOS) regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and fellow team members.
- Load and unload freight as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the assigned truck.
Required Skills
- Valid Class AZ Driver's License.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean Commercial Driver Abstract (CDA).
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions.
- Strong understanding of Canadian transportation regulations (HOS, load securement, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight (e.g., dry van, reefer).
- Familiarity with electronic logbooks (ELDs) and dispatch software.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues.
- Forklift certification (an asset).
