Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene support.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercises as per care plan instructions.
- Prepare and assist with meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Perform light household duties such as tidying, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Administer medication reminders and assist with self-administration where appropriate.
- Offer companionship, engage clients in meaningful activities, and provide emotional support.
- Monitor and accurately report any changes in the client's health, behaviour, or well-being to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain precise and confidential records of care provided and client observations.
- Adhere strictly to individual care plans, privacy policies, and all health and safety protocols.
- Facilitate client access to community activities and appointments, often involving transportation.
Required Skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain promptly).
- Valid Australian Driver's License and access to reliable, insured transportation.
- Physical capability to perform duties including lifting, bending, and assisting with transfers.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability, or Home and Community Care) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months previous experience in home care, aged care, or disability support.
- Experience working with clients with diverse needs, including dementia and chronic health conditions.
- Proficiency in languages other than English is an advantage.
