Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene support.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercises as per care plan instructions.
  • Prepare and assist with meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Perform light household duties such as tidying, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with self-administration where appropriate.
  • Offer companionship, engage clients in meaningful activities, and provide emotional support.
  • Monitor and accurately report any changes in the client's health, behaviour, or well-being to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain precise and confidential records of care provided and client observations.
  • Adhere strictly to individual care plans, privacy policies, and all health and safety protocols.
  • Facilitate client access to community activities and appointments, often involving transportation.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly organised.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain promptly).
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to reliable, insured transportation.
  • Physical capability to perform duties including lifting, bending, and assisting with transfers.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability, or Home and Community Care) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months previous experience in home care, aged care, or disability support.
  • Experience working with clients with diverse needs, including dementia and chronic health conditions.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English is an advantage.
