Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report significant changes to appropriate medical staff.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication management, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient health records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Respond to emergencies, provide critical care interventions, and assist with medical procedures.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal nursing regulations, professional ethics, and organizational policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance clinical practice.
Required Skills
- Current registration in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care nursing experience.
- Demonstrated strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Specialty certification in areas such as Medical-Surgical, Emergency, or Critical Care.
- Experience with specific EMR systems relevant to our facility (e.g., Cerner, Meditech).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
