Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report significant changes to appropriate medical staff.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication management, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient health records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Respond to emergencies, provide critical care interventions, and assist with medical procedures.
  • Adhere to all provincial and federal nursing regulations, professional ethics, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance clinical practice.

Required Skills

  • Current registration in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in medication administration, wound care, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Specialty certification in areas such as Medical-Surgical, Emergency, or Critical Care.
  • Experience with specific EMR systems relevant to our facility (e.g., Cerner, Meditech).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
