Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to calls for service and emergency situations, including crimes in progress, traffic accidents, and disturbances.
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter criminal activity, enforce traffic laws, and maintain public order.
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances with fairness and impartiality.
- Investigate crimes and accidents thoroughly, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and securing crime scenes.
- Apprehend and arrest suspects in accordance with legal procedures, ensuring proper documentation and processing.
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports, logs, and other documentation related to incidents, arrests, and daily activities.

Required Skills
- Valid Alabama Police Officer Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience as a sworn law enforcement officer or equivalent post-academy field experience.

- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, especially under pressure.
- Ability to react quickly, decisively, and effectively in emergency and high-stress situations.
- Proficient in comprehensive report writing and accurate documentation.
- Valid Alabama Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Sound knowledge of criminal law, traffic laws, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated physical fitness and mental resilience to meet the demanding nature of police work.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field.

- Fluency in Spanish or other languages prevalent in the Priceville/Decatur community.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
