Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior cybersecurity technicians in monitoring security systems for anomalies and potential threats.
  • Participate in the initial response to security incidents, including investigation and documentation under supervision.
  • Contribute to vulnerability assessments and penetration testing efforts, learning to identify and report security weaknesses.
  • Support the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security hardware and software, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and anti-malware solutions.
  • Help maintain comprehensive documentation for security procedures, incidents, and system configurations.
  • Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices to contribute to proactive defense strategies.
  • Assist with user access management and security awareness training initiatives.
  • Perform regular security audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement security patches and updates across various systems and applications.
  • Actively engage in professional development, including internal training sessions and pursuing relevant certifications, to continuously enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.

Required Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of IT concepts, including operating systems (Windows, Linux) and computer hardware.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and security challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity and a commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ (even if expired or in progress).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
