Key Responsibilities
- Perform general farm duties including planting, cultivating, irrigating, and harvesting crops (e.g., fruits, vegetables, hay).
- Assist with the care and feeding of livestock, including cleaning pens, milking, and monitoring animal health, as required by specific farm operations.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems).
- Participate in soil preparation, fertilization, pest control, and weed management.
- Monitor crop health, identify issues, and report observations to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of farm buildings, fields, and equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and agricultural best practices.
- Assist with packing and loading produce for transport.
- Contribute to general farm maintenance tasks, such as fencing, repairs, and landscaping.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, standing, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills in English (verbal).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada or meet criteria for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a farm or in an agricultural setting.
- Experience operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, forklifts).
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License or equivalent.
