You’ll be entrusted with operating modern, well-maintained tractor-trailer combinations, primarily on regional routes across Wasilla and the surrounding Alaskan territories. Your daily responsibilities will extend beyond mere transportation; they will include meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing cargo according to DOT regulations, and accurate logging of hours of service. Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class A commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all DOT regulations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, documenting any issues.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing and weight distribution.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) and other necessary paperwork.
- Adhere to assigned delivery schedules and routes, communicating any delays effectively.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Conduct basic maintenance checks and report any mechanical problems promptly.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally when interacting with clients and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical.
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations (FMCSA HOS, pre/post trip inspections, cargo securement).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving in Alaskan weather conditions.
- HazMat, Tanker, or Doubles/Triples endorsements.
- Experience with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Forklift certification or experience.
