Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
- Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes, both domestic and international, to ensure the organisation remains proactive and compliant with all new and updated legislation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to all levels of management and staff on compliance-related matters, fostering a strong compliance culture.
- Oversee and manage regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Develop and deliver robust compliance training programs for employees, raising awareness and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Lead and coordinate internal and external audits related to compliance, managing responses and follow-up actions.
- Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, incidents, and breaches, recommending disciplinary action where appropriate.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors regarding compliance matters.
- Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for senior management and the board, detailing risk exposures and control effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in a dedicated compliance management role, preferably within a regulated industry.
- Profound knowledge of UK and European regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA, GDPR, AML, Bribery Act).
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage effective compliance programs.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and negotiating at all levels.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in compliance management software and reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in compliance (e.g., ICA Diploma, CAMS, ACAMS).
- Experience with compliance in the financial services or energy sectors.
