Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and identify potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes, both domestic and international, to ensure the organisation remains proactive and compliant with all new and updated legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to all levels of management and staff on compliance-related matters, fostering a strong compliance culture.
  • Oversee and manage regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Develop and deliver robust compliance training programs for employees, raising awareness and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits related to compliance, managing responses and follow-up actions.
  • Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues, incidents, and breaches, recommending disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and external auditors regarding compliance matters.
  • Prepare comprehensive compliance reports for senior management and the board, detailing risk exposures and control effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in a dedicated compliance management role, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • Profound knowledge of UK and European regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA, GDPR, AML, Bribery Act).
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage effective compliance programs.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and negotiating at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in compliance management software and reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in compliance (e.g., ICA Diploma, CAMS, ACAMS).
  • Experience with compliance in the financial services or energy sectors.
  • A Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project management skills with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Experience engaging with international regulatory bodies.
