Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly dedicated and vigilant Building Security Officer for immediate full-time hire in Moose Jaw. This critical role is essential to maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, visitors, and property. As a Building Security Officer, you will be the frontline defender, responsible for implementing security protocols, conducting regular patrols, and responding effectively to any security concerns or emergencies that may arise within our facilities. Your presence will be a deterrent to unauthorized activities, and your proactive approach will ensure the smooth and secure operation of our premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of the building premises, both internal and external, to identify and deter security risks.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, promptly responding to any suspicious activities or breaches.
  • Control access to the building, verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining accurate logs.
  • Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and security breaches, by following established protocols and liaising with emergency services.
  • Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate reports on incidents, observations, and daily activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors and staff with inquiries and directions while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Conduct bag and parcel checks as required, ensuring authorized entry and exit of materials.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with security best practices and technology.

Required Skills

  • Valid Security Guard license in Saskatchewan.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a security role, preferably in a corporate or commercial building setting.
  • Proficiency in operating surveillance systems and security equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Physical capability to conduct patrols and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with access control systems and incident reporting software.
  • Additional security certifications (e.g., Use of Force, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention).
  • Customer service experience in a public-facing role.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
