Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents/patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, whilst promoting independence.
  • Support with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Assist with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a comfortable and respectful environment.
  • Help with rehabilitation programmes and therapeutic activities as directed by senior staff.
  • Ensure a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents/patients.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 12 months of paid experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Care Assistant.
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written) to a level suitable for healthcare communication.
  • Demonstrable empathy, compassion, and a patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong observational and communication skills.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a UK healthcare setting.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with electronic care planning systems.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
