Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents/patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, whilst promoting independence.
- Support with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Assist with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a comfortable and respectful environment.
- Help with rehabilitation programmes and therapeutic activities as directed by senior staff.
- Ensure a clean, tidy, and safe environment for residents/patients.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 12 months of paid experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Care Assistant.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written) to a level suitable for healthcare communication.
- Demonstrable empathy, compassion, and a patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Strong observational and communication skills.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a UK healthcare setting.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with electronic care planning systems.
- Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
