As a Project Civil Engineer with Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in overseeing the full lifecycle of various civil engineering projects, from initial concept and detailed design through to execution, commissioning, and handover. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of engineering excellence. This involves meticulous planning, effective resource allocation, and proactive risk management to navigate potential challenges. Your day-to-day will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and contractors. You will be the primary technical point of contact for project stakeholders, requiring superb communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all phases of civil engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budget.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform design and construction methodologies.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant local and national building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies, acting as the primary technical liaison.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions for technical accuracy and project requirements.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring quality control, resolving technical issues, and managing site personnel.
  • Prepare comprehensive project reports, progress updates, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience in civil engineering project management, specifically within infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of Kenyan building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
  • Proficiency in risk management and problem-solving within project environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and green building practices.
