Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician with expertise in both domestic and industrial wiring to join our growing team. Based in Thorner, Leeds, this full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from residential installations and fault finding to complex industrial control systems and machinery wiring. As a key member of our field team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all electrical works, adhering strictly to current wiring regulations (BS 7671).
Your day-to-day will involve interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams, performing new installations, conducting routine maintenance, carrying out comprehensive inspections, and diagnosing/repairing electrical faults across various settings. The ideal candidate will possess a meticulous attention to detail, a strong commitment to health and safety, and excellent problem-solving abilities. You will be expected to work independently as well as collaboratively with other trades and clients, maintaining a professional demeanor and delivering exceptional service at all times. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components in both domestic and industrial environments.
- Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, power outages, and system failures using appropriate testing equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere strictly to all relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., BS 7671), and safety regulations.
- Install and connect lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices.
- Wire control panels, motors, and other industrial machinery, understanding three-phase power systems.
- Provide clear communication with clients and colleagues regarding project progress, issues, and solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects.
Required Skills
- Fully qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or latest amendment)
- Proven experience in domestic electrical installations, fault finding, and maintenance
- Proven experience in industrial electrical installations, control wiring, and machinery connections
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in electrical work
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical diagrams
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Valid UK driving license
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience with renewable energy systems (e.g., solar PV, EV charging points)
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation
- First Aid certification
- IPAF or PASMA certification for working at height
