As a Goods In Operative, you will be the first point of contact for all incoming deliveries, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our inventory. Your responsibilities will extend from the careful unloading of goods to meticulous quality checks, accurate record-keeping, and the efficient storage of products. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and check incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
  • Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies, reporting any issues promptly to the relevant department.
  • Accurately record all incoming stock into the inventory management system.
  • Organise and store goods in designated locations, ensuring optimal use of warehouse space.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised 'goods in' area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, counterbalance forklifts if certified) safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other warehouse team members and departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Assist with stock counts and inventory reconciliation as required.
  • Prepare and stage materials for transfer to other departments or outbound shipments.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, particularly those relating to security and stock control.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a goods in, warehouse, or logistics environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving heavy items.
  • Good numerical and literacy skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or data entry.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Counterbalance and/or Reach Forklift license.
  • Previous experience with handheld scanners and WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • First Aid certification (desirable but not essential).
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
