Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Retail Merchandising Coordinator to join our team in the Lupane region. This pivotal role involves optimizing product visibility, presentation, and inventory management across designated SPAR stores within Matabeleland North Province, with a primary focus on Lupane. The Retail Merchandising Coordinator will be instrumental in executing SPAR’s merchandising strategies, ensuring brand consistency, and enhancing the overall shopping experience for our valued customers. You will work closely with store managers, marketing teams, and suppliers to drive sales, manage stock rotation, and maintain high standards of visual merchandising. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to adapt to fast-paced retail environments. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective merchandising plans and strategies tailored to the Lupane market, in line with national SPAR guidelines.
- Ensure consistent visual merchandising standards, product placement, and promotional displays across assigned stores.
- Monitor stock levels, product rotation, and inventory accuracy to minimize waste and ensure optimal product availability.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize product assortments.
- Coordinate with store managers to implement merchandising changes, new product introductions, and seasonal campaigns.
- Conduct regular store visits to assess merchandising effectiveness, compliance with standards, and identify training needs for store staff.
- Provide training and guidance to store teams on best practices in merchandising, product handling, and display techniques.
- Collaborate with suppliers and distribution teams to manage product deliveries and ensure timely execution of merchandising initiatives.
- Prepare reports on merchandising performance, sales impact, and inventory status for regional management.
- Ensure all merchandising activities adhere to health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in retail merchandising or a similar role, preferably within a supermarket or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrable visual merchandising expertise with a strong understanding of retail aesthetics and customer psychology.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic retail setting.
- A valid Class 4 driver's license and willingness to travel frequently within the Matabeleland North Province.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
- Experience working with ERP systems or retail management software.
- Familiarity with the local market dynamics and consumer preferences in Lupane and surrounding areas.
