Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunch breaks, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Promote positive behavior, encourage respectful interactions, and intervene appropriately to resolve minor disputes among students.
- Assist children with their lunch arrangements, including helping younger pupils with eating and tidying up.
- Organise and facilitate simple games and activities during playtimes to encourage active participation and social development.
- Administer basic first aid for minor injuries or incidents, following school procedures, and report any significant concerns to senior staff.
- Ensure play areas are safe and tidy before and after use, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other lunchtime supervisors to maintain a consistent and supportive environment.
Required Skills
- A genuine enthusiasm and passion for working with children of primary school age.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, understanding, and a calm demeanor, especially in potentially busy or challenging situations.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive approach to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic First Aid or Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) working with children in any capacity, even informal settings.
- Understanding of positive behaviour management strategies.
