Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of food service staff, including cooks, servers, and kitchen helpers.
  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are consistently met.
  • Train new employees in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Oversee inventory control, including ordering supplies, managing stock levels, and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures, reconcile daily sales, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Prepare staff work schedules and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, local health codes) and company policies.
  • Assist in food preparation, cooking, and serving during busy periods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment for both staff and customers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a food service supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act, HACCP principles).
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in hospitality, culinary arts, or a related field.
  • Food Handler Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
