Key Responsibilities
- Operate various underground mining equipment including jumbos, scoops, rock drills, and loaders.
- Perform drilling, blasting, mucking, scaling, and ground support activities in accordance with mine plans and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment and work areas to identify and report potential hazards.
- Install, maintain, and remove ground support systems such as rock bolts, screen, and shotcrete.
- Load and transport mined materials to designated areas.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production progress, equipment status, and safety concerns.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform routine maintenance checks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience as an Underground Miner.
- Valid Common Core Basic Underground Mining certification (U0000, U0001, U0002, U0003, U0004, U0005, U0006, U0007, U0008, U0009).
- Proficiency in operating heavy underground mining equipment.
- Strong understanding of underground mining safety procedures and practices.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in confined spaces and challenging environments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional specialized mining equipment certifications.
- Valid G or G2 class driver's license.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with mine ventilation systems.
- Working at Heights and Confined Space training.
- WHMIS and Lockout/Tagout training.
