As a Hotel Maintenance Technician, you will be crucial in upholding the highest standards of safety, comfort, and functionality for both guests and staff. Your expertise will cover a broad spectrum of maintenance tasks, from routine inspections and preventative maintenance to urgent repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems. You’ll be the go-to person for troubleshooting issues, implementing solutions, and contributing to the long-term upkeep and enhancement of the property. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all hotel equipment and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and kitchen appliances.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests from guests and staff, addressing issues such as leaky faucets, faulty lighting, and minor electrical problems.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the property to identify and rectify potential hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Carry out general repairs and upkeep of the hotel's infrastructure, including painting, drywall repair, carpentry, and furniture maintenance.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment, ensuring their safe and effective use.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment or renovation projects as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work performed, including parts used and time spent.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and hotel policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments to minimize disruption to guest services during maintenance activities.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts, ensuring adequate stock levels.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, preferably in a hotel or commercial building setting.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools safely.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid Australian driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant trade qualification or certification (e.g., Electrician, Plumber, HVAC technician).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS).
  • Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within the hospitality industry.
