Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes to diagnoses and procedures based on physician documentation.
- Review clinical documentation and reports to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all coded information is compliant with federal regulations and third-party payer requirements.
- Resolve coding discrepancies by reviewing patient records and consulting with healthcare providers when necessary.
- Stay current with coding guidelines, compliance regulations, and reimbursement policies through continuous education and professional development.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Utilize coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently for code assignment and data entry.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and audits to identify and address coding errors or inconsistencies.
- Communicate effectively with billing specialists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
Required Skills
