Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Supervisor to oversee and manage construction projects within the Dagoretti area of Nairobi. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, while adhering strictly to project specifications, timelines, and budgets. This role demands a proactive leader with exceptional organizational skills, a deep understanding of construction methodologies, and the ability to inspire and manage on-site teams. You will be the primary point of contact on site, responsible for daily operations, problem-solving, and maintaining clear communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Manage daily site operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
- Monitor progress against project schedules, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee and manage subcontractors, ensuring their work meets required standards and is completed on time.
- Review and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and project specifications.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of all on-site activities.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Resolve on-site issues and challenges promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of materials and equipment on site.
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Construction Supervisor or similar role in civil or building construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (OSHA, OSH Act).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., NITA certification, EPRA electrical license if applicable).
- Experience with sustainable building practices or green construction projects.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
