Job Description

As a Restaurant Shift Manager with Career.zycto, you’ll be joining a vibrant and growing hospitality team located in the heart of Invermay, Launceston. Your day-to-day will involve a dynamic mix of operational management and team leadership. You will be instrumental in overseeing all aspects of the restaurant during your designated shifts, from opening and closing procedures to managing front-of-house and back-of-house coordination. This includes supervising staff, ensuring efficient workflow, handling guest inquiries and feedback with professionalism, and maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth service flow.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate front-of-house and back-of-house staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Handle guest complaints and feedback promptly and professionally, resolving issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Oversee cash handling procedures, including till reconciliation and end-of-shift reporting.
  • Monitor inventory levels for food, beverages, and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures, including securing the premises and preparing for the next shift.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation throughout the restaurant.
  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to achieve operational goals and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Contribute to staff scheduling and performance evaluations when required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and train staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fluent in English.
  • Solid understanding of restaurant operations, including POS systems and inventory management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle challenging situations calmly.
  • Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Hospitality Management.
  • Experience with specific restaurant management software.
  • Previous experience working in a busy, high-volume restaurant.
  • First Aid certification.
