Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive electrical diagnostics and fault finding on various vehicle systems using advanced scanning tools, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and schematics to accurately identify and rectify electrical system malfunctions across different vehicle makes and models.
- Repair, replace, and install electrical components such as alternators, starters, batteries, lighting systems, sensors, actuators, and electronic control units (ECUs).
- Conduct precise wiring repairs, including splicing, soldering, re-routing, and proper insulation, strictly adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Diagnose and repair issues related to vehicle infotainment systems, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), airbags (SRS), cruise control, power windows, central locking, immobilizers, and other advanced electronic accessories.
- Perform routine electrical system maintenance, preventative checks, and system upgrades to ensure optimal vehicle performance, safety, and longevity.
- Keep accurate, detailed records of all diagnostic tests performed, repairs conducted, parts utilized, and time spent on each job.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with service advisors and customers to explain diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and estimated costs in a clear and understandable manner.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, workshop procedures, and environmental guidelines.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive electrical technologies, diagnostic software, and repair techniques through continuous learning, training, and self-study.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician with a strong focus on diagnostics and wiring.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, electronic components, and advanced diagnostic procedures.
- Proficiency in using various diagnostic tools, scanning equipment, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and technical schematics.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong manual dexterity and precision for intricate wiring and component repairs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and best practices in an automotive workshop environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in Automotive Electrical Systems.
- Experience with specific diagnostic software and OEM tools (e.g., Bosch, Autel, Launch).
- Advanced training or certifications in vehicle electronics or specialized vehicle systems.
- Experience working with European, Japanese, or luxury vehicle brands.
- A valid Mauritian driving license.
